JAY-Z’s ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Joins GRAMMY Hall of Fame

JAY-Z’s ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Inducted into GRAMMY Hall of Fame

JAY-Z’s iconic debut album, Reasonable Doubt, is set to receive one of the highest honors in music. The 1996 classic will be inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class, joining a prestigious lineup of legendary recordings. The official recognition will take place at the GRAMMY Museum and Recording Academy’s GRAMMY Hall of Fame Gala on May 16, 2025, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.

A Hip-Hop Masterpiece

Reasonable Doubt remains a defining moment in Hip-Hop history, featuring collaborations with Memphis Bleek, Mary J. Blige, Jaz-O, and the Notorious B.I.G. Production credits include DJ Premier, Ski, Knobody, and Clark Kent, all of whom helped craft the album’s timeless sound. Over the years, the album has earned widespread acclaim and is often cited among the greatest rap albums of all time.

Reflecting on the project’s legacy, DJ Clark Kent shared his thoughts during the album’s 20th anniversary in 2016. “I think that’s the reason why it was so good, because it was more, like, effortless,” he told SPIN. “‘Yeah, we gon’ do it. We gon’ put this record out and we gon’ walk away.’ That’s what the plan was.”

Joining Music Legends

JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt will be inducted alongside legendary works from artists such as Big Star, Clara Ward, Eddie Floyd, Emmylou Harris, Fela Kuti & Afrika 70, Geeshie Wiley, Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine, J.D. Crowe & The New South, Linda Martell, and Luther Vandross. These selections highlight the diverse impact of music across genres and generations.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, emphasized the importance of these recognitions: “It’s a privilege to recognize these eclectic recordings as the 2025 GRAMMY Hall Of Fame inductees. Music has the unique power to shape culture and mark moments in time. Each inducted recording reflects that spirit, and we’re excited to celebrate these impactful works, ensuring their legacies continue to inspire generations to come.”

Michael Sticka, President and CEO of the GRAMMY Museum, echoed this sentiment, stating, “The GRAMMY Hall Of Fame serves as a vital bridge between music’s past and present, honoring recordings that have left a lasting mark on our cultural landscape. We’re proud to preserve and share these influential works at the annual GRAMMY Hall Of Fame Gala this spring.”
