Chris Brown Sweeps Three Categories at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards

Global superstar Chris Brown dominated the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, winning in all three categories he was nominated for.

The 35-year-old R&B icon took home Outstanding Male Artist, Outstanding Soul/R&B Song for his heartfelt ballad “Residuals,” and Outstanding International Song for “Hmmm” featuring Nigerian sensation Davido.

Brown triumphed over industry giants like Beyoncé, SZA, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and Wizkid in an impressive sweep. His track “Residuals” outshined strong contenders, including Coco Jones (“Here We Go (Uh Oh)”), PJ Morton (“I Found You”), SZA (“Saturn”), and Beyoncé’s “16 CARRIAGES.” Meanwhile, his Afrobeats-infused collaboration “Hmmm” bested Tyla (“Jump”), Tems (“Love Me JeJe”), Skip Marley (“Close”), and Wizkid (“Piece of My Heart”), proving his global influence.

In the Outstanding Male Artist category, Brown emerged victorious over Kendrick Lamar, October London, Usher, and J. Cole.

A Moment to Celebrate

Following his big night, Brown took to Instagram, reposting his wins with a simple heart and prayer hand emoji. Fans quickly flooded the comments, celebrating his well-deserved recognition. “It’s about time he’s given his flowers while he’s still here to smell them,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Now let’s get him back to award show performances and the Super Bowl halftime!!!!!”

Hollywood star Taraji P. Henson showed her support, commenting, “KEEP GOING!!!!!!!” Meanwhile, rapper Blueface’s mother, Karlissa, noted, “Nothing like a comeback.”

A Year of Success

Chris Brown has been on an incredible run, recently wrapping up his sold-out 11:11 North American Tour and international performances in South Africa and Brazil.

“I’ve been waiting my whole life for this kind of moment,” Brown told the massive crowd at a recent show. “I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, I love you guys so much. This night means a lot to me.”

With another major award sweep under his belt, it’s clear that Breezy’s reign is far from over. Congratulations, Chris Brown!
