From the heart of NapTown 317, HighYella is proving that passion, persistence, and pure talent can take you anywhere. The name HighYella was born in the studio when he was just 18 years old, back when recording music wasn’t as easy as it is today. One of his homies was recording on a laptop, and from that moment, a new artist was born.
Growing up on a steady diet of 106 & Park, IMC Music Videos, and legends like T.I., Tupac, Lil Bow Wow, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, and Moneybagg Yo, HighYella always had a deep connection to music. MP3 players loaded with thousands of songs were just the beginning — but it wasn’t until winter 2017 that he realized he could do it for real.

HighYella first stepped onto the scene with rap group OTP (Out The Pocket), a powerhouse of engineers, cameramen, and artists moving as a unit. They lit up stages across the city, opened for names like YNF Lucci, and even took home wins at rap showcases. But as life hit — disagreements, personal losses, and challenges — the group eventually went their separate ways.
By 2019, HighYella doubled down on his own journey, taking full control of his craft. He recorded his own tracks, hit shows solo, and built his brand from the ground up. Over time, he released five projects:
Run It Back
Yella Time
On To The Next
Big Vibez
Big Vibez 2
His latest heat, “Gd Up,” is already making noise, a standout track from Big Vibez 2. You can catch all his music videos on his YouTube channel under HighYella, with visuals shot and recorded by his longtime engineer Chop Shop Recordings — the same partnership that started back in 2017 and still stands strong today.
